COOL CUE - PRIVACY POLICY

THE SHORT VERSION

Cool Cue is a simple, on-device weather-reminder app. It has no accounts, does not track you, shows no ads, and does not sell your information. The only thing that ever leaves your phone is the location you type in - sent to our weather provider so we can show you the forecast. Everything else stays on your device.

1. WHO WE ARE

Cool Cue ("the app," "we," "us") is a weather-alert app operated by I Called Twice LLC. You can reach us at support@coolcue.com. This policy explains what the app does - and does not do - with information.

2. INFORMATION THE APP HANDLES

Cool Cue works almost entirely on your device. It handles:

  • The location you enter (a city, town, or postal code, and the coordinates that match the place you confirm).
  • Your preferences: the temperature at which alerts start, your chosen reminder times, your temperature unit (Fahrenheit/Celsius), and your clock format (12-hour/24-hour).
  • A cached copy of the most recent forecast, and simple flags that remember you have already seen the first-run Story and Disclaimer screens.

All of this is stored only on your device. We do not operate a server, an account system, or any copy of this information.

3. INFORMATION SENT OFF YOUR DEVICE

To show you real weather, the app sends your entered location to our weather data provider, OpenWeather:

  • When you search for a place, the text you type (city/town or postal code) is sent to OpenWeather to find matching locations.
  • To retrieve the forecast, the latitude and longitude of the place you confirmed are sent to OpenWeather.

That is the only information the app transmits, and it is used solely to return weather data. We do not attach your name, an account, an advertising ID, or any other identifier - we do not have them. OpenWeather's handling of these requests is governed by their own privacy policy:

4. WHAT WE DO NOT DO

  • No accounts or logins.
  • No GPS or background location tracking. You type your location; the app never reads your device's GPS or tracks your movements.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party marketing software of any kind.
  • No selling, renting, or sharing of personal information.
  • No servers of ours storing your data - we operate none.

5. NOTIFICATIONS

Cool Cue's reminders are local notifications - scheduled and delivered entirely on your device by your phone's operating system. They are not sent from a server, and setting them requires no personal information. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

6. DATA STORAGE AND RETENTION

Because your information lives only on your device, you are in control of it. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. We retain nothing, because we never receive it.

7. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Cool Cue is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent age where you live). It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. SECURITY

The app communicates with OpenWeather over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because the app keeps your information on your device and sends only a location for weather lookups, there is very little data to protect - but we still use secure connections for every request.

9. YOUR CHOICES

  • You choose what location and preferences to enter, and can change or clear them in the app at any time.
  • Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored.
  • You can disable notifications in your device settings.

10. LEGAL BASIS (EEA AND UK USERS)

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies, our legal basis for handling the location you enter is performance of a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)): you ask Cool Cue for a forecast, and sending that location to our weather provider is how we deliver it. We rely on no other basis, because we handle nothing else.

11. YOUR RIGHTS (EEA AND UK USERS)

You have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how it is handled, and to receive it in a portable form. In practice everything Cool Cue holds is on your own device: you can see it in the app, change it whenever you like, and delete all of it by uninstalling the app. We keep no copy, so there is nothing for us to return, correct, or delete on your behalf.

You also have the right to complain to your data protection supervisory authority. In the EEA that is the authority in the country where you live or work. In the UK it is the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk.

12. WHERE YOUR LOCATION IS SENT

Cool Cue is operated from the United States. The location you enter is sent to OpenWeather, which operates from the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom holds an adequacy decision from the European Commission, so a transfer from the EEA to the UK needs no additional safeguard.

13. CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We will never treat you differently for exercising a privacy right - Cool Cue works the same for everyone, and there is no version of it that collects more.

14. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect in a new version of the app.
